Surprise

Fri Oct 30, 2009, 7:35 PM
Life can be full of little surprises. I had entered a local contest with the Indianapolis Star news. They asked for individuals to send in photos of Indianapolis Indiana. They were using a viewers voting criteria and a judge selecting criteria to pick the photos that would be used in the book they would be publishing. Of course I thought I would trough my hat in and sent in numerous photos. According to the star news almost 9000 photos were sent in. On wed they had the book release. I figured that if nothing else I would get to experience a book release. (note nothing like the movies but fun) Upon my arrival I was looking over the book and on the last page was one of my photos. Damn not only did I get a photo in the book but I received a full page.

Ok I was thrilled to say the least and I am very thank full. What I found funny was that I went out and tried to get all artistic (you know what I mean) with my photo. Had a great time and was able to learn some new things and got some great shots. Then the photo selected was a quick shot of my daughter and a Baby raccoon taken in the back yard. (raccoon 1 in gallery) I could not think of anything else but keep it simple.

I never thought that I would get a photo in any book , but I now have bragging rights. Then I checked my e-mail and I had received a request from a Alumni internet paper requesting to use one of my photos in the upcoming month. Ok not earth shattering, but a week of great little surprises. Now If the Lottery will just top the week off !!!!!!

Remember this well. There are two kind of fights in this world. As long as we place ourselves in battle, we must always know the difference: the fight to defend life...And the fight to defend pride! :salute:

quick question, i tried what you do with the reflections.... on thing stumps me........ how do you do the reflections lol?
:iconfurwe:
I have been using a Deep (depth) Black tub. The black seems to act as a mirror. Then I place what ever background behind the tub but tilt it down some to get the most coverage. When I am messing with solid color back grounds. I just get construction paper that has a floesent tone ($1.00) The tub can be as simple as a paint tray. Also besure to use one light directly on the background. Hope this helps keep me updated on you results. I would also suggest that if you know any nurses or Docs see about getting an IV bag and the tube (empty). It has a control that allows you to control the flow of the drip.

hey just to let you know my attempts didnt go so well, as i had to manual focus, as i use a D40 and my macro lens cant auto-focus on it.

but i found out another way of reflecting the light so if that goes right, ill let you know.
